February 17 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
FOR: Individuals with early to mid-stage dementia and their caregivers, family, or friends
(no previous art experience needed!).
SESSIONS: 8 Weeks
PURPOSE: The benefits of the creative arts are well documented as they bypass parts of the brain
affected by dementia and provide new opportunities for stimulation and expression
of feelings and thoughts. The social aspect of being in a group with others reduces
isolation and fosters supportive relationships. It is also fun and relaxing.
TOPICS: Each week we explore a different theme, and look at images from artists all over
the world. In the second part of the group, we let the theme and images from the
discussion inspire our own creativity through guided art making activities using a
variety of art materials.
