Host Your Own Fundraiser
By hosting your own fundraising activity, you’ll become part of an invaluable collective of individuals, corporate and community groups who are dedicated to making a difference for caregivers and people living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia.
Your activity will help raise much needed funds to support the programs and services offered in local communities supported by the Alzheimer Society of Brant, Haldimand Norfolk, Hamilton Halton. Every little bit counts – so whether you host a small event amongst your friends or plan something larger – every activity helps today and provides hope for tomorrow.
Here’s how to get started:
1. Plan your activity
There are so many different fundraising ideas to choose from – anything from a coffee social, bake sale, hockey tournament or crafting sessions. Host your activity in-person or go virtual. Check out our ideas for in-person or virtual activities.
Choose a date that works best for you and your guests. Need some help – onsider coordinating it with World Alzheimer’s Awareness Month (September), World Alzheimer’s Awareness Day (September 21) or schedule in January to coincide with Canada’s national Alzheimer’s Awareness month.
Define your fundraising goal in order to help you (and your donors) understand how much you plan to fundraise and help to keep you motivated to achieve your goals.
Determine your fundraising strategy – will you fundraise using pledge forms, by mail, by email, e-transfer for those who are comfortable with it, or a combination of all the above?
Tell your participants YOUR story – How are you connected to people living with dementia and the Alzheimer Society? Why is raising money for people living with dementia important to you?
Spread the word – You’re Hosting a FUNDraiser! Reach out to your network of contacts including friends, family members and co-workers – send them an email, pick up the phone or send them a message through social media.
