Behaviour Supports Ontario
Our Behavioural Supports Ontario (BSO) Community Team provides outreach supports (including in-home) to older individuals experiencing responsive behaviours (ex. agitation, aggression, wandering, etc.) due to an age-related cognitive impairment, as well as supports for their families.
The ultimate goal of our BSO program is to improve the quality of life for individuals who are experiencing responsive behaviours and their families by providing behaviour-management strategies, coaching and support and connections to important services.
Intake for the BSO program is run through the Regional Geriatric Program’s Central Clinical Intake. Please click here for more information on this process.
Services that our Behavioural Supports team can offer include:
Creating and coordinating of behavioural management plans to manage and decrease responsive behaviours.
Providing in-home education of family caregivers on how to support older individuals with responsive behaviours.
Educating individuals and families about services that support older individuals with responsive behaviours and providing referrals where appropriate.
Advocating for needed services.
Working in collaboration with existing services such as hospitals and the LHIN Home and Community Care to support older individuals with responsive behaviours successfully continue to reside in their environment of choice.
