Learning Series about dementia

We are currently offering education both online and in-person (following Public Heath guidelines)

To register: all in-person and some online classes require calling your local office to register, many online classes are  direct registration link though the calendar.

Dementia Education Learning Series for Families and Friends

This series will offer family caregivers of individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia an overview of the disease. The topics discussed in this series include understanding what is happening to the brain, managing risks, and planning for the future.

Middle Stage

Middle Stage will offer family caregivers of people living with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia problem solving strategies and approaches for communication. This series will also offer participants several useful avenues for support, all of which can strengthen their ability to provide care.

Long Term Care Information Session

This session will help family caregivers of people living with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia evaluate their current care giving needs and explore other possible care options available, including long term care.

Care in the Later Stages

Care in the Later Stages will help family caregivers of people living with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia understand what to expect in the later stages of dementia. The series will also explore how participants can provide comfort to the person with dementia as well as review the experiences of grief and loss.

U-First! for Care Partners

U-First!® for Care Partners is a program that will help care partners build confidence and skills to enhance their well-being and that of the person they are supporting who is experiencing behaviour changes.  Also, using the U-First framework, to help reduce responsive behaviours. This series will also aim to improve collaboration among all your care partner supports through a common knowledge, language, and approach to care.

Building Circles of Support

This series is designed to assist care partners in building a circle or “team” that can support both you and the person in your life that is living with dementia.  The series includes tools and resources that are pertinent throughout the journey of dementia.
