Groups for Carers and Persons
with Dementia
The group splits into two separate groups that
happen simultaneously, one for carers and one
for individuals who have been diagnosed with
dementia. Level of dementia may vary with location.
Groups may be ongoing or time limited and topics
address the many feelings and changes that come
along with the diagnosis.
The groups will also provide practical tips to assist both the carers and those living with dementia.
Just For Us
A group designed for individuals with dementia and their carers to receive support and strategies.
Hagersville Concurrent Group
A group designed for individuals with dementia and their carers to receive support and strategies.
Simcoe Concurrent Group
A group designed for individuals with dementia and their carers to receive support and strategies.
Taking Control of Our Lives
Taking Control of Our Lives in an 8 week group program focused on empowering and supporting people living with dementia to develop and/or strengthen and put into practice the necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes to play an active role in living well with dementia. Critical topics such as memory strategies, finding meaning and purpose, adapting to change, communication, decision-making, building and keeping connections, emotional wellness, and staying well are included.
This program has a positive impact on participants living with dementia, including:
- Standing up to stigma
- Having more confidence
- Feeling valued
- Making strong connections and not feeling alone
- Learning more about how to cope with dementia
